Specializing in the Italian Bolognese tradition of historical European martial arts (HEMA), his focus is on making these arts both true to their historical context and relevant to modern practice. Esko teaches full-time at his Tampere School of Arms in Tampere, Finland, and regularly conducts seminars, workshops, lectures, and demonstrations across Finland and internationally, with recent events in Mexico, Spain, and France.
